Turnaround of AIMA’s Distance Education Division
Situation
AIMA had seen major threats from IGNOU’s Management distance education program, resulting in
AIMA’s serious decline in enrolments for its programs resulting into problems of not even meeting its
operating expenses.
Major Interventions

Created an Autonomous Business School `Centre for Management Education’ under AIMA. With this new branding, recreated the brand equity by making curriculum, student services and support more contemporary and student centric.

Set up country wide chain of nodal centres across 50 cities to support students closest to their location.

Designed and implemented new management education models such as Consortium MBA, In company PGDM, Executive Doctorate in Business Administration.

Launched country’s first ever Interactive Satellite Channel (SINET) for supporting students located across the nation.

Designed and launched Post Graduate Information Technology Programmes in areas such as Electronic Commerce. Also, brought Deakin University, the then very contemporary programme on "Electronic Data Interchange."

Launched India’s first ever Management Virtual University on Internet (AIMAUNIV.NET).
Outcome

CME AIMA became the largest business school in private autonomous sector in India in 1999.

Built AIMA’s overall enrolment to 15,000 during its peak

Created a corpus of over INR 30 Crores by 1999
